About the Work: Woven in Spice translates the language of textile into resin and spice, echoing the tiled patterns and prayer rugs of sacred architecture. Cinnamon, turmeric, and paprika settle into repeating medallions and borders, their pigment bleeding softly at the edges like dye into fabric. The symmetry recalls devotion — patterns passed down, repeated by hand, holy in their consistency. Encased in resin, these fragile spice-drawings become permanent, transforming something as temporary as a spice rack into a lasting cloth of memory. The work honors the quiet labor of pattern-making across cultures, and the sacred found in repetition itself.

About the Work: Perfectly Askew finds beauty in the imperfect. A wooden quatrefoil, slightly warped and worn, frames a burst of star anise, cinnamon, and cardamom — spices carrying the histories of the people and places they come from. The tarnished, uneven finish of the frame mirrors our own flaws: the cracks, the crookedness, the parts of ourselves we try to hide. But nothing here is corrected or smoothed over. Instead, asymmetry becomes the point — a reminder that beauty is not found despite our imperfections, but because of them. To be perfectly askew is still to be whole.
