About the work: Parts from All Over is a tribute to the community behind the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank — its donors, volunteers, and the families it serves. Using Raison D’être, Amanda’s signature technique of suspending spices within resin tiles, mandala-like forms emerge, echoing compasses pointing in every direction. Layered with found objects gathered from the Foodbank — many signed by hands from the ribbon-cutting event — each compass represents the diverse origins of everyone involved in this collective effort. Together, they speak to unity and boundless compassion. The finished work was unveiled and presented to the Foodbank on March 1st, 2024.

About the work: Pareidolia takes its name from the mind’s instinct to find pattern within chaos — a face in the clouds, a figure in wood grain. Here, fragments of spice-rendered tile are pieced together into a mosaic that shifts depending on how closely it’s viewed: from afar, a single unified mandala; up close, a patchwork of individual, disconnected parts. Each tile carries its own motif, its own history, yet the eye insists on assembling them into one coherent whole. The work asks whether meaning is something inherent in the pattern itself, or something we impose — a beauty born entirely of perception.
